Estimadas y estimados compañeros de FEDEFAM, AFAD y FEMED:

Quiero compartir con todas y todos ustedes la carta oficial que me envió el Presidente de Francia, señor Nicolas Sarkozy, anunciándome su decisión de promoverme al grado de Oficial en la Orden Nacional al Mérito (Oficcier dans l órdre National du Merite).

También he recibido una nota oficial del Embajador de Francia en Bolivia quien me informa que esta alta distición es un reconocimiento de Francia por los servicios prestados a Bolivia tanto en mi campo profesional como en mi lucha por la recuperación de la democracia, por los derechos humanos, la inclusión social y el fortalecimiento de las relaciones entre Bolivia y Francia.

No saben la gran sorpresa que tuve al recibir esta información y también la gran emoción que me conmueve ya que esta distición también reconoce y apoya nuestro trabajo por la búsqueda de nuestros queridos desaparecidos.

El viernes pasado sostuve una reunión con el Embajador Francés y le resumí los enormes esfuerzos que realizan las organizaciones de familiares de América Latina, Africa y Asia para lograr que este año entre en vigor la Convención Internacional de Protección Contra la Desaparición Forzada.

Intercambiamos varios temas, pero quiero apresurarme en compartir con ustedes esta noticia que me compromete aún más con ustedes y con nuestra causa.

Dear colleagues,

I am very happy to share with all of you the official letter sent by Mr. Nicolas Sarkozy, President of France, announcing his decision to promote me to the level of "Oficcier dans l órdre National du Merite". ( Oficial en la Orden Nacional al Merito).

This high distinction has been granted as a recognition from the French Government to the services provided to Bolivia and for strengthening the relationship between the governments of Bolivia and France. This award supports my voluntary work on Human Rights specially related to Enforced Disappearances, and encourages my commitment with a large number of families in Latin America, Africa and Asia. Our efforts aim to achieve that the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons treaty enter into force. This Convention was adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2006 with the purpose to prevent enforced disappearances and to ensure truth, justice, redress and the reconstruction of the historical memory of the victims. To date, more than 90 states have signed the treaty and 18 have ratified.
